This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the School Alumni mobile application ("the App").
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following information when you sign in or create and maintain an alumni profile:
- Google account information, including your name, email address, profile photo, and Firebase user identifier.
- Contact information, including your mobile number and email address.
- Personal and alumni details, such as date of birth, gender, graduation year, class, section, hometown, current city, and address.
- Professional details, including profession type, occupation, industry, organization, job title, and mentoring interest.
- Profile photographs and the visibility preferences you choose for your email address and phone number.
- Technical information normally recorded by our servers, such as request time, IP address, and error information, for security and troubleshooting.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- authenticate users and maintain alumni accounts;
- review and verify alumni profiles;
- provide the alumni directory, announcements, and events;
- allow alumni to reconnect, network, and participate in mentoring;
- protect the App, prevent misuse, and resolve technical issues; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
3. Visibility and Sharing
Approved alumni may see limited profile information in the alumni directory. Your email address and phone number are shown to other approved alumni only when you separately enable those visibility options. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Information may be processed by service providers used to operate the App, including Google Firebase for authentication and our secured application hosting and database services. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect users, the app developer, or the App.
4. Data Retention
We retain profile information while your account remains active and for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. We may retain limited records where required for security, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
5. Account and Data Deletion
You can permanently delete your School Alumni account from the App by signing in, opening My Profile, selecting Delete Account, and confirming the request. This deletes your alumni profile, associated personal information, uploaded profile photograph and school proof (if any), and the Firebase authentication account used to sign in.
If you cannot access the App, use our Account Deletion Request page or email katrukatru@gmail.com from your registered email address with the subject "School Alumni Account Deletion". We may verify your identity before processing the request. Valid requests will normally be completed within 30 days. Limited records may be retained only where required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including authenticated access and encrypted HTTPS communication. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for a school alumni community and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Your Choices
You may review and update your profile in the App. You may independently control whether your email address and phone number are visible to other approved alumni. You may also request account deletion as described above.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the App or applicable requirements change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
